My wife is Filipina. We were married Feb. 19, 2005 in Hilongos, Leyte, Philippines. I am a US citizen. We have one daughter, Eva Jean, and another child is on the way and should be delivered about July 1, 2007. Eva Jean is a US and Philippine citizen, holding passports from both countries. She got her US passport and Social Security Number when we filed a consular report of foreign birth abroad in Cebu City, the Philippine Islands. Our next child will also hold dual citizenship and it will be done in the same fashion as Eva Jean's, before we immigrate to the USA.
This web page will chronicle the the various steps we take to achieve US citizenship for my wife. It will include a timeline and the various steps we make during this complicated and long process.
We will apply for a CR-1, Immediate Relative Visa, since she is my spouse. We will not apply for the K-3 visa. From my research, it appears that a K-3 Visa will not get her to the US much faster, and there would be additional paperwork and adjustment of status issues to deal with once she arrived in the USA.
Why immigrate to the USA? Aside from the many security issues for my wife, we do not share the same passport. It makes living together and traveling an unnecessary struggle. Once we all share the same passport we will be able to travel much more freely and live together in the USA, where I can work, without hassle.
